The short version

Scams often create urgency, fear, secrecy, or an unusually good offer. They may demand gift cards, cryptocurrency, a verification code, or remote access.

Do not use the phone number or link in the message. Contact the organization through its official app, statement, or independently found website.

Legitimate organizations do not need your password or one-time code.
